The problem

The built-in macOS clipboard holds one item. Existing clipboard managers either charge a yearly subscription, open in a separate window away from where you type, or store history without encryption.

02

Our approach

We built a native Swift and SwiftUI app that opens at the text caret in any app, encrypts history with a key kept in the login Keychain, skips password managers and concealed fields automatically, and exposes a local MCP server with per-request approval for AI tools.

03

The result

Launched at maclip.cc as a one-time purchase with a free trial, with no subscription and no cloud storage of clips.

Overview

Maclip is our own macOS product. It remembers everything you copy and opens your clipboard history right at the text cursor with one shortcut. It adds paste stacks for pasting several clips in order, snippets that expand as you type, per-app paste rules, typo-tolerant search, search inside screenshots, Touch ID locked boards and a private local MCP server so Claude and Cursor can search clips only after you approve. Every clip is encrypted with AES-GCM-256 and stays on the Mac.

Key features

History at the cursor

Press Cmd+Shift+V and your clipboard history opens where you are typing, in any app.

Paste stacks and snippets

Paste several clips in order and expand text snippets with date, clipboard and cursor placeholders.

Private by design

AES-GCM-256 encryption on device, password managers ignored, incognito mode and auto-expiring secrets.

AI apps via MCP

Claude and Cursor can search your clips through a local MCP server, only after you approve each request.
