The problem

Most focus and screen-time apps are easy to ignore or cancel the moment a distraction urge hits, so they rarely change habits.

Our approach

We designed AFK around intentional friction: a full-device lock during sessions, a small number of unlock tickets instead of a free exit, automated schedules that start on their own, and essential and emergency apps that always stay reachable.

Live on Google Play with scheduled focus routines, unlock tickets and streak tracking.

Overview

AFK is our own Android app for mindful phone use. Instead of a timer that is easy to dismiss, AFK locks the whole phone for a focus session of 5 minutes to 3 hours, while Phone, Messages, Camera and Emergency SOS stay available. Users can schedule recurring focus routines, use limited unlock tickets for real emergencies, and track focus hours and streaks. Website: afk.eqvilabs.com.
